I'm working on revisions- small brush strokes on a big book to add color and flavor to it. The hard part is knowing when you've added enough- and not to do too much and lose the joy in the story. There really is a fine line between well done and over done--like cooking a roast. For that reason, I've decided I'm done messing with this book after today. Time to move on to another book- another query- another set of revisions. Cheers!
I think I hit overdone on a story I just revised. I took out so many works I thought were unnecessary, now it sounds choppy with no flow. So... where now? Add some water, plump it up, cut out the burnt pieces???
ReplyDeleteOh- I have so done that! You have to be careful not to lose the flow that is your voice. I shake my head when writers worry about using too many was's or ly words... You can literally dissect a book to death. I know- I've done it. Good luck with yours!
ReplyDeleteI always find it so hard to know when to let go and move on to the next book.
