August 4

I know it's August already, but yikes...the birch tree at the edge of the lake has yellow leaves...and a second tree has a patch of red. Wait! Fall is still what? Six weeks away? I'm still waiting for it to be warm enough to go swimming in the lake... Summer is supposed to be long and hot and boring. But so far this year, it has been quick and cool and I've been too busy to be bored. Sigh. Perhaps I should take a day a week from now until Fall and sit outside with an iced tea and wait for the heat and the sunlight and the boredom to find me before it's too late. What do you think?

  2. I'm in Venice CA and this has been the best summer in years - gray in the AMs and PMs, sunny during the day, so it has stayed cool at night. Our hot months are usually Sept.-ish, so there's plenty of summer left here. But this one's been fabulous.

I strongly support your outside with iced tea idea!

  3. Heh.

I haven't been truly bored since high school.

I don't see your busy mind grinding to a halt long enough for boredom to set in.

Nothing wrong with pausing and breathing in the world for a while, though.

  4. YAY! for us I mean, because if your leaves are turning orange and yellow then I'm not imagining the green buds on our trees. Spring - at last - is on the way! Sounds like you've been having a busy busy summer, Nancy.
