Feb. 9

Yes! I went outside to mail my request for graduation form. It is 9 degrees F with a wind chill of
-25 degrees F. But there in the cherry tree were three puffed up robins (American red-breasted threshes). Robins returning are the first sign of Spring here. Poor guys were probably wishing they had waited a few days. But they were there. I was so excited to see them. This week the first assignment pages for school are due. So I must get on them. I am also working on Julie Cameron's The Artist Way. I know I talk about this a lot, but I need to go over some stuff multiple times to get what I need from it. Anyway, as of today I have to spend a week without reading. Tough to do when you write for a living. The point of the exercise is that most of us numb ourselves with reading and TV watching. Facebook anyone? So, I am going to do my best to cut down time spent reading. I will skim e-mails, I will not read and comment on status updates. I will not mindlessly watch TV every night. What will I do? Oh, yes, write. LOL. Could you go a week without reading?

  1. Yeah, there's all this other 'stuff' that pulls us from reading. I'm almost through with Oogy and it's a great story.

  2. Does reading the stop signs on the way to work count?? But Officer, I made a pledge I wouldn't read this week!

  3. Hi L. Diane, I managed to finish the book I was reading before I started the no reading part. But still, I cheated and read Facebook statuses for ten minutes last night.
Linda, you crack me up! Yes, the book suggests you avoid reading cereal boxes and shampoo bottles. It's amazing how much I read. Cheers~
