Jan. 13

I am home safe. There were many concerns about the weather, but it all worked out fine. My head is still a blur about all that I learned in school. Thank goodness for good note taking and handouts. The people in the program from the professors to the students really make a difference. They're all interested in genre writing and look at it from a practical (craft) point of view, an academic point of view, and a business point of view. I think the mix of genres is one of the best parts of the program. When we attend conferences and cons we tend to attend those only in our "chosen" genre. But there is so much to learn about other markets and other types of stories that can enrich your own genre. It's something to think about.
Hope your day is grand. Cheers~

  1. I absolutely agree with you. In fact, when I go to conferences I always mix it up a bit with something out of my genre. It's a fun way to learn new things and meet new people.

That's the timer ... popovers are almost ready. Mmmm ... kitchen smells good.

Happy Writing, Nancy and Happy Eating.

  2. I find conferences give me inspiration for my writing - although some are more inspiring than others. Yours sounds like it was a good one.
